Chamomile celebration in Kutaisi

This year we had the pleasure to enjoy the holiday of Kutaisi for three full days - from 2nd to 4th of May. Kutaisoba is otherwise known as the "Feast of chamomiles", so it is easy to guess that in those days the city practically drowned in flowers; a tradition originated in the early XXth century when local high school students sold chamomiles to help people suffering from tuberculosis.

Youth for domestic tourism development

A two-day workshop on the management and development of tourism in Kutaisi and Imereti region was held in Kutaisi on 3rd and 4th of October 2016. Workshops were prepared by a guest speaker Wojciech Mania, Ph.D., an expert from Poznań Local Tourist Organisation in Poland, responsible for tourism promotion and development of cultural tourism.

Lasha Talakhadze star was opened in Kutaisi

Welcoming ceremony for Lasha Talakhadze, olympic champion and record-holder in weightlifting was held in Kutaisi. Ceremony was organized by the Governor of Imereti. Lasha Talakhadze won a gold medal in the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He set a new world record in the over 105-kilogram weightlifting division with 473 total kilos. He lifted 215 kilos on the snatch and 258 kilos on the clean and jerk.

White and red bridges in Kutaisi

There is a popular belief among people from Kutaisi that the White Bridge was constructed in the factory of Gustave Eiffel in France. This history however is connected with the Red Bridge. Both bridges are about the same age and link two banks of the Rioni River since the beginning of the twentieth century.
