Derchi Baptist Church

Village Derchi is located in Tskaltubo Municipality, on the left bank of the Rioni River. In the centre of the village there is a Baptist Church from the 14th century. The structure is supported by a double socle. From the outside the church is covered with yellowish-green sandstone hewn bricks of various sizes and is crowned with the cornice shelf, its facades are not decorated. The inside walls were completely covered with murals. Nowadays the church is partially destroyed however the colourful gamma of preserved paintings is extinguished. One of them illustrates Virgin Mary with her child in her hands standing between two archangels. Below there is a traditional composition of “Eucharist".

Saint Ivlita and Saint Kvirike Church

Zarati is a village located on the left bank of the Rioni River, at the altitude of 360 meters, 33 km from Tskaltubo. The village was first mentioned in the 13th century sources in the document from 1259 –1293 in which Prince Iashvili, who was expelled from Racha Region, took possession of the village. In 1749 Aleksandre V (the King of Imereti), the father of Solom I strengthened the position of Iashili family in the area by giving Zarati Church to Levan Iashvili.
