Niko Nikoladze House Museum

The museum is located in Samtredia in the village of Didi Jikhaishi. It was founded in 1951 and it has over 5000 items in its collection. It is placed in the house of a well-known Georgian public figure and a scientist of the 19th – 20th century – Niko Nikoladze (1843 – 1928). The house was built in 1886. It is surrounded by a beautiful park. The plants which grow in the park were brought by Niko Nikoladze from all over the world. The museum houses family memorabilia, household goods, and a rich library with works of Niko Nikoladze printed in various languages. There are also modern technologies of that time brought from different countries, i.e. wind machine from 1910, washing machine from Berlin, first sample of Kodak camera, sundial.

Kulashi - Museum of Georgian – Jewish friendship

Kulashi is a small town located at Colchis lowland, 5 km away from Samtredia. It was first mentioned in historical sources in the 16th century. There was a Feudal Castle of Miqeladzes family in the village. For many years it has been home to one of the biggest Georgian Jewish communities. Nowadays, in the town, complex of three synagogues (one from the 18th century and two from the 20th century) and an old Jewish cemetery are retained. There is also a Museum of Georgian – Jewish friendship where you can admire the rich collection of photos and memorabilia depicting everyday life of Kulashi Diaspora, the menorah, photos of rabbis, books and manuscripts in Hebrew, right next to Georgian flags, typical Georgian drinking horns for wine and inscriptions in the Georgian language. A playwright Guram Batiashvili and the Israelian politician Ephraim Guri were born in Kulashi.
